    Interesting Evening....

Well as some of you may know I've been having a few ridden issues with Missi, they started after I got a Chiro to treat her at the end of November. I stupidly went with a chiro that I didn't know, she'd been recommended to me by two other 'professionals' that were treating her so I thought it might be good for them to all work together, plus she could come out a lot sooner then my normal chiro. I wasn't particularly impressed with this new chiro, she didn't give me a good vibe and did some things that I thought were rather strange to Moo. Just put it down to someone having different methods etc and try and let it go.

Anyway, due to Moo still being a pain I decided I would get my normal Chiro out for a second opinion, I have used him for years and always been pleased with his work, downside is it can take up to six weeks to get an appointment!

Fast forward to tonight and my lovely chiro braved the weather to come and visit. It seems that my hunch about the other chiro was right and she hadn't really corrected any of the problems that there where. Her pelvis was quite significantly 'out', she had at least 5 spots under where her saddle would sit that needed tweaking and an issue in her poll among others. He thinks they could be the cause of the problem although obviously I won't know until I get back on her next week. Having used him twice a year for about 8 years this is the first time he has ever suggested a follow up visit which I think suggests there was enough 'wrong' to warrant some naughty behaviour!

It probably won't be the end of our issues but at least if she plays up now I will know the hopefully she doesn't have any problems and she is just being a cow bag for the fun of it. IF she does happen to be back to her nice normal self then the first chiro obviously did more harm then good (and I will be FURIOUS!!)

One thing I have learnt, stick to what you know, even if it means waiting a bit longer for it!!

I have made the same mistake with a well known to this area and Shropshire saddler and learnt the same lesson... At least you can iron chiro issues out now she is being seen by a trusted person!

Yup another one here made a similar mistake with a farrier & used the one at the yard. He trimmed Sov's feet back so hard they bled!!!!!! I couldn't get the time off work, & left her with the YO. But I found the trimmings & saw the spots of blood on the floor where she had been trimmed! I was livid.
I never allowed him to touch her again & found a new farrier.

Don't beat yourself up, chalk it down to experience. Fingers crossed she's a lot better when you start again

This is what makes me wary of using people, even those that come highly recommended

I used a back chap - he was recommended and lectures etc., but whilst after the first time the Dizz especially seemed happier, the others and then the Dizz as well weren't any different. He'd do five mins on Little Cob and charge me £60. That was per horse and I'd have all four done at the same time. Didn't mind spending the money if it had results, but a few of those and then not any more he'd want to come every month or so as well! I didn't go that route (I'm a mug, but not yet a raving loon).

Now my horses haven't had a back bod for many months as I don't know who to trust

The only people I do trust are my vet, my farrier, my dentist, and my saddler.

I trust my chiro, one vet (unfortunately he's miles away from my home so can only use him when they're kept at work) and my dentist. I sort of trust my saddler and farrier too but not on the same level as the others.
