I've just received one of the the worst messages this morning
My old share horse Ellie has passed away from old age. She was nearly 31.
I last rode her about 18 months ao and the madam p*ssed off with me as I wasn't paying attention
I have some lovely memories of her though. I did my only dressage tests on her and we won them both largely due to her remembering the test  rather than my riding skill She had a couple of favourite places to gallop and if you wouldn't let her go would do a lovely collected rocking horse canter instead as she was so excited Ellie taught me and many others so much. She was there for me when we lost my MiL and then a month later when my own Mum passed and, for an unaffectionate mare, she gave some great cuddles
Run free Ellie in that great field in the sky until we meet again at the Bridge
She was definitely a once in a lifetime horse. She taught me a lot. Patience for a start. Balance when she would spook mid canter at a bird in a hedge :o And that there is always more than one way of achieving something and that all ways should be explored
Ellies owner is doing a Memorial Board for her so I said I would have a look for some pictures to print off for her. Turns out I have about 20 which is way more than I thought I had. Once I figure out how to put pics on here I will show you some of them. She certainly didn't look her age in them at all
